CHK Foundation
CHK Foundation is a family foundation and the majority of the Trustees are descendants of the founder, Sir Cyril Kleinwort. The Foundation has broad charitable objects and rotates the focus of its grant making in accordance with the interests of the serving trustees, and in light of current social challenges.
The current main grant programme (running 2024-2028) has a dual focus on education and the protection of the environment. Under a sustainable agriculture sub theme, the Foundation’s trustees are interested to support scholars working on projects which consider better stewardship of the air, water, and soil, and /or the minimisation of the use of off-farm resources and external inputs. These goals must be mindful of the need to continue maintaining or improving the environmental quality, economic viability, and social and economic equity of the farming system and the food it produces.
Current trustees have working experience of traditional, mixed farm enterprises and organic systems of farming.
