My background is in Microbiology with a focus on public health and food safety. I now work on the interface of science and agriculture and my ambition is to develop sustainable, safe solutions for the food chain. Study Overview
Insect farming is a rapidly growing industry. For my Nuffield study I will learn about the quantity of edible insects that are consumed and any associated allergy or infection risks in countries with a cultural heritage in edible insects. As we move from foraging to farming insects, I will also explore new technologies for vertical farming and mass rearing of insects.
