Report Synopsis

Practical Sustainability in Action: Global Insights from the field

Vanessa Chiamulera

Over a 12-week period, Vanessa conducted field visits, interviews and technical analyses across nine countries.

Her goal was to understand how different agricultural regions implement sustainability practices aligned with ESG, both in small-scale and large-scale production systems.

The report highlights that the most effective sustainability models combine:

• Social technologies — processes, training, governance, cooperatives

• Machine technologies — automation, sensors, biodigesters, traceability

• Data-driven decision-making

• Local adaptation of global principles

A central finding is that sustainability is not a separate initiative inside the farm but a management philosophy that improves efficiency, reduces risk, strengthens team engagement and supports long-term resilience.

Vanessa concludes that Brazil is uniquely positioned to build its own ESG model — one that reflects its diversity, scale and innovation capacity — by integrating social practices, technology and governance into everyday rural management.
