NUFFIELD CENTRAL REGION

The Central region has had another good year and is proud to have welcomed two newly awarded scholars to the region.

The main focus of the Autumn is the Three Counties Farming Conference. We are very fortunate for the platform and publicity that the Three Counties Agricultural Society offers Nuffield scholars and there is always a strong turnout. The November conference this time saw Richard Counsell and Geraint Powell present at the conference amongst a line up of speakers that also included Neil Parrish and Minette Batters. Ian Howie continues to do a tremendous job promoting all things Nuffield in Herefordshire running several meetings and events through the year – notably an evening with Nuffield International chairman Kelvin Meadows, an evening with immediate past NFU President Meurig Raymond and a farm walk, well attended by current and potential scholars, courtesy of Julie and John Joseph on their farm in Llangaron.

As a region we would like to thank the RAU for their continued support in hosting the mock interviews and outgoing Chairman Stephen Watkins for his efforts over the past 2 years (and more!). As with all regions we are only as strong as the time and effort invested by our Alumni and I would urge anybody from the region who would like to become more involved to get in touch via the Nuffield office for what promises to be an busy next couple of years.
