Duncan Farms
Duncan Farms is a free range egg producer and packer focused on producing truly traceable, sustainable eggs. Based in Aberdeenshire, the family farming business operates a fully integrated business model, from field to shelf, supplying premium quality free range eggs across the UK.
The business operations include managing free range laying farms, and the grading and packing of over 5million eggs per week at their Fortrie Packing Centre.
The field to fork approach is truly achieved by growing the majority of their hens’ feed on their Aberdeenshire farms. This home-grown feed includes wheat, barley, faba beans and oil seed rape. Once harvested, the feed is milled and mixed on-farm to provide high quality feed for their hens.
Duncan Farms achieves further vertical integration by rearing their hens from day-old chicks at specialised rearing barns ensuring best performance and welfare for the hens, even before they are moved to one of their laying farms.
Renewable energy is integrated throughout the business. Wind and solar solutions help power free range farms and the rearing barns benefit from biomass heating systems.
A closed-loop cycle is achieved as the business returns the hen manure to the land helping organically fertilise the crops for another year.
By controlling each step of the process from feed, to rearing, laying, grading and packing, Duncan Farms can ensure the highest quality standards are met at every stage to produce truly traceable, great tasting free range eggs.
