About

The Annual Conference is a major event in the Nuffield Farming calendar and is an ideal opportunity for past, present and future scholars to all get together. There will also be expanded opportunity for delegates to contribute to the debate, discuss with and question the panel during in-depth sessions designed to allow meaningful and detailed conversation.  Guests are also most welcome.

New Format

You will appreciate that the covid pandemic has affected our scholarship programmes, none less than that of the 2020 NSchs who should have been presenting this year.  We have, therefore, planned a different format for this year's Annual Conference.

The 2019 NSchs have been given the opportunity to present to a live audience, but, with a new and novel approach, packaged as five insightful debates investigating big topics impacting on agriculture today, and all based on the Nuffield Scholars' own research, findings and conclusions. Each group has been encouraged to use their own structure to the debate, which should lead to a really strong and different conference.

2019 Conference Panel

During the 25th and 26th November:

  • The Presenting Scholars will be split into 5 topic groups. Within each group the Scholars will briefly address the audience, followed by a debate in a format chosen by the group and Chair Trustee.
  • The yet to be appointed 2022 Scholars will be awarded their Nuffield Farming Scholarship.
  • The 2021 Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust AGM will be held on the Friday morning.
  • The Nuffield Farming Drinks Reception and Annual Dinner will be on Thursday 25th November.

Three Special awards will also be presented:

  • The HSBC Silver Salver for the best written report published by a 2019 Scholar.
  • The Steven and Gill Bullock award, which acknowledges the individual who has been the most effective in using their scholarship to develop their business and contribute to UK agriculture.
  • The Frank Arden Leadership Award.
