Steven Read

Steven grew up on a tenanted dairy farm in the Midlands and following a BSc in Agriculture from Nottingham University, his subsequent 39 year professional career has all been spent in the Agriculture industry in both the UK and Europe. As a senior director in private equity, listed (European and UK stock exchanges) and cooperative organisations, including flotations and management buy-out transactions, he has extensive experience in governance, trusteeship, people and strategy development in a variety of different settings.

Steven feels passionate about the central role that farmers and the wider agricultural industry has in feeding the nation and is committing the current phase of his career to having a positive impact on UK agriculture in a very personal way via the encouragement of individuals within the sector and helping to improve productivity and best practice.

Steven lives in Somerset with his wife Sue and outside of work enjoys spending time with their grandchildren, walking, gardening, horse riding, open water swimming and skiing whenever possible.
