Trehane Trust
The Trehane Trust was launched in 1977 to help those in any sector of the dairy industry who want the opportunity to learn more about it. More than 70 Scholars have benefited from Scholarships since the Trust was established.
Past award winners have studied a very wide variety of subjects, including production, marketing and processing, and have travelled to countries such as Australia, Chile, Greece, Japan, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Canada and the United States. Copies of their reports are available from the Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust.
Learning more about the dairy industry and those who work in it, both at home and abroad, is an excellent way of helping to ensure that the United Kingdom maintains and, if possible, increases its competitiveness in world markets.
The dairy sector is facing new challenges resulting from changes in CAP and a more competitive global market place. This is an opportunity to identify and study one of the key factors affecting the future competitiveness of the UK dairy industry.
Those normally resident in the United Kingdom are invited to study a subject of their own choice connected with the industry by applying for a Trehane Award.
