Jake Freestone - 20 by 20 – Fact or fiction?
I am married to Andrea and we have a daughter Jorja, born in September 2011. I also have two other daughters, Edie, (2000) and Thea, (2002). I manage Overbury Farms on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border in the United Kingdom. The farm is 1560ha of arable crops;milling wheat, malting barley, oilseed rape and beans and irrigated land let for vegetable production; peas. onions and potatoes and permanent grassland. The grass carries a flock of 1200 ewes, which lamb in April. The farm has been in different conservation schemes since 2000.
Overbury Farms joined LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) in 2003, and became a LEAF Demonstration Farm in 2012. We take part in Open Farm Sunday, a scheme aimed at inviting families and children onto farms to tell the story about British agriculture, food production and conservation. We also host school visits throughout the year.
I have interests in the use of social media to get the message of positive agriculture to our customers and others interested in finding out about the management of the countryside and how their food is produced. I have neen blogging since 2006, using twitter since 2010 and using YouTube since 2011.
