Tributes to Captain John Stewart
Captain John Stewart became Director of the Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust in 1968. In his 20 years of directorship, he firmly established the Trust in the UK and hugely supported the scheme in several countries of the British Commonwealth - Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the African Countries of Kenya, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. He subsequently brought France into the scheme in 1982.
John was a larger than life character often with exuberant bonhomie and a catalogue of tales told with a sparkle in his eye and a glass in his hand! His integrity of purpose, vision and determination marked his passage through life, marked as it was by many achievements realised despite his disabilities.
A record of his outstanding achievements throughout his life, and his many and varied roles were touched on in a series of tributes given at his 'Thanksgiving Service' held on 29th January, 2010 at Weston Underwood Church, Olney, Buckinghamshire.
