2006 Nuffield Scholar - MARTIN DAVIES - studied 'Biofuels - their impact on arable farming, food production and the opportunities created'
Martin Davies was eager to understand the factors that would influence the future direction of the UK arable industry. He spent his Scholarship travels in countries running mature bio-fuel industries and returned with firm conclusions about the challenges and opportunities facing farmers as profitable energy producers.
Taking his new found knowledge and expertise to a new and exciting level, Martin set up his own specialist bio-energy consultancy in 2006. He is now MD of Greenerbridges Ltd and subcontracts his bio-fuel expertise - both advice and hands-on management - to a number of farming companies, both in the UK and in Eastern Europe.
