2010 Nuffield Conference
Scottish welcome...
We are delighted that this year's annual meeting and conference will be held in Scotland. The Scots are renowned for providing a warm welcome and we certainly hope that you will pleased with our plans for the 4th - 6th November. Edinburgh is a wonderful city and the hotel's city centre location provides an excellent venue - allowing delegates, friends and families the opportunity to explore, if they choose.
Our outstanding city location means that parking will not be easy - and we apologise for this. However, we have made provision for you to park at the Highland Show Showground (near Edinburgh Airport) should you wish, with coach transfer to the hotel or the organised visits provided. There are also NCP car parks located relatively close to the hotel.
We have arranged two options for the pre-conference tour - a visit to Albert Bartlett Potatoes followed by Jim Brown's Gaindykehead Farm, and Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden. Our Hotel overlooks Edinburgh's famous Charlotte Square and is home to the National Trust for Scotland's 'Georgian House' to which a private tour has also been organised.
On Thursday night a buffet supper will be served in the hotel with a few thought provoking sound bites from our guest speaker Maitland Mackie. At the conference dinner on Friday night you can look forward to a delicious menu of locally sourced foods, a whisky tasting, Scottish music and a promise auction.
The conference closes on Saturday afternoon, but delegates are welcome to stay for Saturday night and enjoy Edinburgh for longer. As part of the conference programme, you are also invited to visit John Campbell's Millennium Farm on Sunday morning, with lunch generously provided.
We look forward to seeing you in Edinburgh in November.
Kind regards, The Scottish Team
