2011 Nuffield Winter Conference
Midlands welcome...
The East Midlands Nuffield Committee welcomes you all to Belton Woods Hotel, near Grantham, for what promises to be another exciting annual Winter Conference.
The pre-conference activities will start at lunchtime on Thursday, with a visit to the new Eco Centre run by Nuffield Scholar, David Rose. The visit will include a Care Farm provision for the disadvantaged, and the farm's controlled traffic system. A light lunch will be provided.
Then its on to Severn Trent Green Power at Stoke Bardolph Sewage Works to look at their anaerobic digestion plant. The farm enterprise grows 1,800 acres of maize and uses 37,000 tonnes to produce 2MW of electricity of which part is used for the sewage plant.
Alternatively delegates can tee-off on the championship golf course at Belton Woods in the afternoon. We have booked a block of tee times on the Lakes Course and are planning a fun team competition for those who would like to start the conference with a relaxing round of golf.
Our evening event is a visit to the National Trust's Belton House, located just opposite the hotel. On offer is a drinks reception and guided tour of the house, after which we will be dining in the on-site Stables Restaurant.
The conference kicks off at 11.00am on the Friday, but for partners who don't necessarily wish to attend all the presentations over the weekend, we have also laid on an alternative delegate visit to the historic and beautiful town of Stamford, 40 minutes south of the hotel.
The conference comes to a close on Saturday afternoon. However, delegates are more than welcome to extend their stay at the hotel and use the time to visit Grantham or Lincoln, with its magnificent Cathedral, or return to Belton House to visit the gardens and the park.
The East Midlands team very much look forward to seeing you in Lincolnshire.
